Langtang is called the “valley of glaciers” and once you arrive, you’ll understand why. Just a few hours north of Kathmandu, the Langtang Valley rises steeply to moraines and glaciated peaks above 7,000m, offering a genuine Himalayan experience without the crowds of Annapurna or Everest.
The trek passes through Tamang and Tibetan-influenced villages, dense rhododendron and bamboo forest at lower elevations, and wide open yak-grazing pastures as you approach Kyanjin Gompa at 3,870m. A side trip to Tsergo Ri (4,984m) gives sweeping views of Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa.
